Getting a new pet is an awesome feeling and brings a lot of joy to a person's life. If you live in an apartment it can also add a fairly hefty expense with pet deposits and pet rents. It can be tempting to try to sneak the pet in and get away with not paying those additional fees but that is a very risky thing to do. If you have a neighbor that gets upset over barking and goes to the office, if you have a maintenance emergency and they need inside your apartment immediately, or any other possible scenario comes up you could face consequences. Some of those possible consequences include: 1) The best case scenario would be if you were only hit with some hefty fines. If that were the case and you had the money or could come up with it you would be very lucky and things could turn out ok. 2) You may have to end up re-homing the pet. That would not be the ideal thing to do but if you are in a lease and can't come up with money for pet deposits it could be the only option. 3) The worst possibility would be if the property evicts you for violating your lease contract. An eviction on your credit will hinder you greatly from trying to lease another apartment.
Sneaking a pet into an apartment might seem like a good idea but it can end up being worse problems than you think. In order to avoid this and also avoid having to get rid of a pet that you have already fallen in love with it's best to do things the right way or wait until you can afford it.
