Tips for being a good apartment neighbor

  1.  Keep noise to a minimum. Keep in mind that the walls in an apartment are paper thin. Stomping loudly, arguing, playing music too loud, a dog that barks constantly and things along those lines can really be annoying to your neighbor. Just be considerate to the neighbors above or below you especially late at night and early in the morning.
  2. Keep your area clean. Don't leave your trash sitting outside, take it to the dumpster if you don't have valet trash pick-up. Keep patios and balconies neat and organized. If you use the community grill clean up after yourself and make sure fire is completely out. If you use community laundry facility always throw away empty soap bottles and dryer sheets etc.
  3. Park where you are supposed to. Most complexes have assigned spots and over flow spots. Park in your own spot (don't take up 2 spots!) and if you have neighbors over make sure they go to an over flow spot and that they do not park in someone else's parking space. Also when driving through the parking lot be safe, slow and beware of children playing and running through the parking lot.
  4. Keep track of your pets. Keep dogs on a leash and always watch them around children. Pick up after them when they do their business. Be mindful of barking especially in the middle of the night when people are sleeping.

If you follow these few basic tips and be respectful and courteous to others then you are well on your way to being a good apartment neighbor!
